I think I need to relearn how my video camera works--as in transferring videos from it to computer...haven't done that in a long while. And I want to make sure I can do it when Erin comes down next month so we can videotape us some ponies!

Sadie's before shot:

Taken on May 7th

Where of course she is a fat pony....she's a super easy keeper and needs worked 6 days a week to stay in a shape that does not resemble a furry red blimp
The next day we started "pony boot camp" which meant a lot of work on the lungeline next to the house(where we have this beautiful slight slope...enough to make her work, but not so steep she couldn't canter easily on it.), free lunging, lots of stretching, ground poles, and riding riding and more riding...

Today (well...yesterday since it's 1am now...) June 7th

I personally think she is looking a ton better than her "fluffy" self.

UGH...i hate horse starvers

edit to add:
I contacted the Maine Animal Welfare Program. I included the link on Equine-Ranch(since pictures are linked there...I also saved the pictures to my harddrive), the link to the barn website, the owner of Honey's name and the barn owners name/address.

If you would like to do the same:

okay...LJ cut didn't work in last post..no clue why and i'm too lazy to fix it..haha

ANYWAY...

FLY SPRAY RECIPE FOR JESSICA!!!!!!!!!!

I make my own...the ladies that taught my Equine Acupressure courses in college gave me this recipe. It works really well. You can spray it on yourself too as there aren't any chemicals in there that can hurt you.

25 drops of each. use pure essential oils
Citronella
Spearmint
Peppermint
Lemongrass
Frankincense
Eucalyptus
1/4 cup Vodka (I use a high proof, dirt cheap, rot gut stuff)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (pure)
1/4 cup witchhazel
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol

if you can find the unfiltered Apple Cider vinegar, it works best....but it is more likely to clog up a spray bottle, so I use it as a wipe instead.

I'm going to be ordering more essential oils this year, as I ran out...waiting for some call backs and e mails back on prices and stuff....I'll let you know the best places to buy....heck, if you want, I can make some up and meet up with you somewhere later on this year and give you part of a batch to try out first if you want to make sure you like it, the horse doesn't have a reaction to it(unlikely, but you never know) and that it works for your flies up there (it works on the small frog and mouse sized horse flies down here!!) before spending a lot of money on the oils(they aren't terrible pricey, but seem like it at first since they are in small glass bottles....but they last forEVER). In the long run, it is cheaper to make it than it is to keep buying various fly sprays from TSC or feed stores. Hopefully I'll have my oils before EA and I can just bring some up there with me.

you can e mail me at stauffer@themanestreet.com if you have any questions or would like to purchase one.  First come, first served...however, if one you REALLY want has been sold--I also take custom orders ;)

I have one horseshoe dreamcatcher and about 5 hoop dreamcatchers(various sizes, not horse related--just stones or beads and feathers on them)...and a set of rhythm beads that I'm wanting to sell...all proceeds will be going to the Last Chance Corral in Athens, OH. Any future Horseshoe dreamcatchers I make at request (bought to order) from people will have half of the profits donated to the Last Chance Corral...as well as any rhythm beads made to order.

Anyway...here are the dreamcatchers and the set of rhythm beads I have. 100% of the sales will be given to Last Chance Corral. Need to make some room here, and at the same time will be helping a deserving rescue :)

I had made this set for my mare Gypsy...but have since made a different set for her that suit her even better. Asking $20 plus S/H (should be under $2)

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Rhythm%20Beads/Gypsybeads.jpg

I have a few more sets of rhythm beads that are unfinished at this time, but also plan to sell them for this when I get the chance to finish them up.

dreamcatchers are all diff. sizes...i don't have a tape measure with me...so sizes are guesses.

This first one is slightly smaller than the span of my hand(i have smallish hands)...maybe 5-6 inches across on this hoop. Glass and copper beads. Asking $20 plus S/H (should be around $2-3 on any dreamcatcher)
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/coppergreendream.jpg

Hummingbird Dreamcatcher. again..about 5-6 inches across...Asking $20 plus S/H
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/dreamcatcher17.jpg

Amethyst Chip Dreamcatcher. Another in that same size range...Asking $20 plus S/H
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/amethystdreams.jpg

I also have one more in that same size range and at same price...I don't have a picture of it for some reason...Will get one shortly. It consists of sodalite chips and some feathers.

the next two are about an inch smaller...next size down hoop. Both are $15 each plus S/H

Sodalite/Rose Quartz chips
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/dreamcatcher16.jpg

Lavender/Pink Dreamcatcher--has assorted glass and plastic beads and amethyst chips
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/dreams.jpg

and finally, one horseshoe dreamcatcher
Sodalite Chips/Pegasus charm
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/Ponybeads/Dreamcatchers/dreamcatcher11.jpg
Again..$15 plus S/H (runs around $3-3.50)

Yesterday...after fighting all day with a bad colic, I made the choice to let him go. I found him when I got home from work at 10am, already down, and gave banamine right then. I worked all day to save him. He'd perk up at times....and then crash again. At about 8pm, my mom called my uncle John Henson to come out. I went to Bainbridge for 2 hours. And my heart is still breaking and I have no real words to say. I'm so numb...

Thank you to Jenifer Grove(Jenje) and Danielle Bowers(Riordan) for talking with me on the phone for a bit in between all other phone calls (thank you for call waiting!)
Also...thank you to Erin Bisco (Hoofservant) and Laura Martlock for letting me know that it really was the right decision to make....and Erin for talking to me almost all day/night yesterday...in between patients, on her breaks, and on the drive home. Thank you Zach for being home when I came to Bainbridge and not out and just letting me cry (and Cricket too for licking my tears away with a little puppy tongue) And for Melissa Tosch, for talking to me last night for quite some time...she was there when I lost Libby...and this was so much like that day...I might have been alone at home yesterday....but thanks to all of you..I wasn't completely alone.

Horses in MI need Homes! [29 Oct 2008|11:39am]
Posting this here first just so I can type it all out
Contact Erin Bisco at hoofservant@aol.com for any more information. These horses are located in Michigan. Erin does NOT own them, she is acting as the agent for the property manager where they have been kept. She will know more details on Saturday.

All horses, unless noted, need dewormed, feet trimmed, vaccinations, and lots of love and feed(only a few are at a good weight).
None have papers. Ages and heights are estimates. None have stable vices. No kickers, biters, cribbers, etc. Only one is a red ribbon on the trail, and that is if a horse comes up way to close behind him and he'll kick. That will be noted in his description. All will need a coggins test before they go.

Erin will be bringing our haflinger mare down to OH on November 14th. I am in the southern part of Ross County, not far from Chillicothe. She has room for ONE more on her trailer if anyone is interested. She can also arrange to ship down others for cost of gas, so long as she is able to borrow the truck she is driving again. Again, for more information on this, contact her at hoofservant@aol.com

so..i've been drawing/coloring adoptables for TMS...

I posted today that I put up 5 new ones and if you'd ever adopted before or currently had one, to NOT adopt and let some others have a chance....2 of them snapped up by people that have had at least 3 adoptables before.

that just right pisses me off.

i don't have all the time in the world to just sit there and make them. It takes about 30-40 minutes to make the lineart for ONE...add onto that another 30 min-1 hour to color ONE in....and each of these has at least 2 stages..most have 3 and some have 4 stages..so for a single, 4 stage one...that is...a minimum of about 4 hours work. FOR ONE.

I tried recycling some of them that had been adopted before and released(mind you...8 months ago) and someone, by some sheer luck, adopted the same one...and threw a hissy fit.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR

baby mice are cute

Photobucket

Carole is going to take 3 of these for camp since they are unrelated to her others...she'll pick hers up right before camp starts (2 months)...Zach is taking the mostly white/black one. If it's a female, I'm going to talk him into taking another female with it...

Can I strangle my horse??????

lol..not really..but BOY is he testing me today...

I came home to find the sliding door on my barn open...and Riot, merrily dragging random things out of the barn and plopping them throughout the field. -_-

The sliding door has 2 eye hook type latches...one inside and one outside. He had to have undone BOTH to get the door open...Outside one is easy access, which is why I put the inside one in....in a spot I THOUGHT was out of reach of wiggly lips...apparently not.

He had also flicked the lightswitch on, so the barn lights were on...

What all did I find out in the mud?

One of my saddles....both saddle racks...a spool of electric fencing (the yellow tape kind)...3 halters, a bridle, a couple of sets of reins, all of my leadropes, one of the lungelines, a shovel, my manure fork, a hat that I'd left out there and a bundle of rope I have.

I called my mom to find out if he was in the barn this morning before she left for work, and she said they were both standing at the gate and she gave them some hay before she went to work at 7:30am...it normally takes them an hour or so to eat their hay when she gives it to them...so by 8:30am they were done...and I got home a bit after 9:30am....

And the booger didn't even come over to get his grain when I got here! He was too busy making a big mess. RAAAWR!!!

And I about fell flat on my face several times when I hit some deep muddy spots...for the most part it's muddy in the front lot, but not too deep, but there are puddles and pockets where you really sink a foot into....and my right foot is still sore from where I broke it in Jan. So that was a blast and a half. I managed to get his grain into the barn in a stall and tied him up in there while I did cleanup. I think I got everything....Nothing else seemed to be missing. Thank goodness a lot of my smaller things such as polos, boots, bits, and the sort are in rubbermaid tubs....in the hay mow!

No...this isn't the first time he's done this...(which is why I store the grain in our garage and not in the barn)....but it's the first time he's done this when it's all gross and muddy and pouring down rain. Usually he's a good boy and only does it in the summer...when the ground is dry...and the sun is shining...

Now Gypsy...she was being a good little pony and standing in a stall, out of the rain, looking sweet and innocent. You could just tell she was thinking "I want no part of this....I do not want to get into trouble..."

At least I have a sense of humor and can appreciate Riot's sense of humor as well....even when he does something this...goober-ish! Guess I'll just have to put more latches on the door...perhaps I can get one that locks(with a key...I wouldn't put it past him to figure out a combination lock.)...

you know...I just realized I hadn't posted here...but I'd posted elsewhere....but hey..since this is my own journal, I can slap the name of the game right here for you all to see instead of going "PM me if you want to know"

www.virtualhorseranch.com

So..I went back to an old online horse game I used to play...and apparently you can now shoot your horse up with tranqs to calm your horse for dressage or methamphetamines that give energy/make their mood more hyper and get more trainings in when you can normally only fit 3 in....shoot 'em up and you can get more energy and 3 more trainings before the horse is ready to...and you can STARVE them to help them gain endurance!!! I'd been told this, but hadn't seen it first hand....went back to my old acct. there...tried it out myself.....and yup...my horses endurance gain was higher after the gain "capped off" when I lowered my horses feed way down...and it started gaining on it's energy bar!!! You think a starved horse wouldn't gain energy and endurance, but on this game it does...

seriously...I know the age group of the majority of players on here are children and young adults(there are some adults that play as well....)...but, really...what is this teaching the younger players out there....

ugh...

oh..and I was just told if I wanted to work on Enrage, for bronco training....to go ahead and click and see the message it gives me... " Worked on rekindeling spirit by enraging & confusing horse." What the?????
